  1. Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act (Rera)
    • Bombay high court has upheld the constitutional validity of Rera Act. The law intends to make homebuying a transparent process.
    • Builder to specify time within which he will finish a project or phase.
    • HC expands Rera’s powers to grant more time, though only in exceptional cases, to a builder to complete a project
  2. RBI keeps key policy rate unchanged
    • Monetary policy committee of RBI has kept its key policy rate unchanged at 6%.
    • RBI also mentioned the projection for FY18 real GVA growth at 6.7%.
  3. UP became the first state to endorse triple talaq draft
    • UP makes instant triple talaq a cognisable and non-bailable offence .
    • Earlier Supreme Court struck down triple talaq, calling this practice unconstitutional.
  4. RBI has fixed a lower merchant discount rate(MDR)
    • MDR refers to the fees paid to a bank on card payments.
    • A small merchant will only pay 0.40% of the transaction value.
  5. Russia has been banned by International Olympic committee from competing at next year’s winter Olympic. Russian athletes can take part as independent competitors under the Olympic flag.
  6. India won the 1st ever south Asian Regional Badminton Team championship defeating Nepal.
